Detailed Chan Poker Review:

Summary (6.42)

Chan Poker is the online poker home of high stakes poker celebrity Johnny Chan who is a ten time World Series of Poker bracelet winner. The poker room operates on the OnGame network sharing its players with other other popular poker rooms such as PokerRoom.com and Hollywood Poker.

Software and graphics (7)

The software is a full download OnGame Networked package with all the bells and whistles including availability in all major languages. The only negative thing we have to say is the interface is not the best for serious multi tablers. The preaction buttons are somewhat limited and all the action buttons are close together which can sometimes result in players clicking the wrong button.

Ring game traffic (9)

All sites on the Ongame Network are the 4th largest in the world in terms of player volume. During European peak hours up to 5,000 simultaneous players can be found at real money tables.

Tournament traffic (9)

The Chan tournament traffic reaches 20,000 (real money) players during peak hours.

Game variety (7)

Chan offers all of the standard game: Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo 7 Card Stud, and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo. In addition they offer 5 card draw in both fixed and pot limit. The majority of play focuses on low limit but there are plenty of games available at higher stakes.

Rake (5)

ChanPoker rakes pots at the industry standard 5%, with a $3 maximum.

Soft competition (6)

While there is plenty of soft competition at ChanPoker, play does lean a bit on tighter side. This is likely a result of the site having been around for years, and many of their loyal players, who have been there since the early days, have had lots of time to improve their games. In mid stake games, full tables, the average view flop percentage is generally 35-40%.

Sign up bonus (5)

The Chan Poker sign up bonus is a 25% initial deposit match up to $100.

Loyalty bonus (5)

Chan Poker awards points based on ring game play, these points are redeemable for entry into various freeroll tournaments.

Promotions (5)

Still a new poker room and not many promotions have been announced as of yet.

Support (5)

Support is only offered through an email form on their website.

Financial security (9)

Should be very secure. Part of the OnGame Network and endorsed by 10 time WSOP bracelet winner Johnny Chan.

Deposit & withdrawal options (5)

Deposit: Credit Card,  Visa/MasterCard, Instacash, Firepay, and NETeller.
Withdrawal: Withdrawals are limited to the method which was used to deposit and any subsequent withdrawals can be made via check or Neteller. (Can only cash out to Neteller if you have at one point deposited with Neteller)
