Professional Poker Tour (PPT ) Finds Television Home on the
travel Channel.
World Poker Tour
Entertainment (WPTE) is well known for revolutionizing televised
poker through its affiliation with the Travel Channel. Over the past
few months much heated negotiations have taken place regarding the
search for a television home for the latest WPTE product "The
Professional Poker Tour (PPT)".
WPTE had went as far a
filing suit against the Travel Channel for attempting to block its
negotiations with another network. The debate and legal issues have
now been resolved as World Poker Tour Entertainment and the Travel
Channel have contracted for 44 weeks of PPT Programming.
The Professional Poker
Tour will take over the time slot (Wednesday 9-11 EST and PST)
currently held by the World Poker Tour upon the conclusion of the
forth season.
The Professional Poker
Tour works very similar to golf as the tournaments are open only to
the Worlds top players who compete in $500,000 Free roll
Tournaments. The WPTE has passed out PPT Tournament cards to less
than 200 players and each card has an expiration value of 1, 2 or 3
years. This ensures that only the Worlds Top Players are competing
which should make for great tournaments and Poker Entertainment
Television.
The official television
schedule for the PPT has yet to be released, however its expected
sometime after the third quarter of 2006 the program will make its
television debut.
