Summary (6.67)
Poker Host was launched in late 2004 by SBC Global, which is a leader in the Sportsbook industry (licensed since 1991).
Over the
years
they
have
operated
on a
number
of
networks
until
finally
landing
at their
current
home in
early
2007,
the
Microgaming
network.

Software and graphics (6)
Dream Poker uses a customized
version of the Microgaming software and has truly opted in for every bell and
whistle available when selecting options. The graphics at this site are far
superior to those of any other Microgaming room.
Ring game traffic (7)
The Microgaming Network has a great player
volume with 2,400+ simultaneous ring game players during peak hours. (June
2006).
Tournament traffic (7)
The
tournament traffic is also great with 6,000+ simultaneous players at real money
tables during peak hours.
Game variety (7)
Poker Host offers Holdem,
Omaha (Hi and Hi/Lo), 7 Card Stud and 5 Card Stud. All games are offering in NL,
PL, and FL with the exception of Omaha Hi/Lo which is only offered in FL and PL.
5 Card Draw is offered in FL, NL and PL variations.
update: Casino games are also
available from the same lobby as the poker game.
Rake (5)
The rake is average at five percent
with no more than three dollars raked per pot.
Soft competition (5)
Poker Host has a good mixture of
competition with plenty of fish (thanks to sport book and casino spill over from
network partners) and a good number of experienced players who are attracted by
the large sign up bonuses and other incentives. Plenty of tables exist at most
stakes and table stats are displayed in the main lobby; soft games are not
overly difficult to find.
Sign up bonus (9)
Poker Host has one of the best sign
up bonuses in the industry at 100% up to $2,000 initial deposit match. In order
to clear the bonus players need to only complete 10 raked hands per bonus
dollar. The min required rake is only 25 cents.
Loyalty bonus
(6)
Tons of reload bonuses, often as much as $2,000 per month.
Promotions (8)
Poker Host is
very creative
with their
promotions. For
example in June
2007 they ran a
promotion called
Caveman
Qualifiers, with
cool creative's
including the
text: Even a
Caveman can win
the WSOP. Not
only did this
promo look cool
it was cool it
gave out 5
$12,000 WSOP
packages and
promised runners
up a GTD share
in $50,000 prize
pool.
Poker Host runs
other high value
promotions and
also has all the
network standard
promotions such
as Magic High
Hand, Freerolls,
and Bad Beat
Jackpot.
Support (7)
The Customer
support through
live chat is
outstanding. If
it was not for
occasional late
payouts we would
rate the support
department much
higher.
Financial
security (7)
The company is
financially
secure but has
some history of
late payment.
Nothing serious
but payments
being just a day
or two late more
often than
should be
acceptable. This
is more of a
support issue
than a financial
issue.
Deposit &
withdrawal
options (7)
MasterCard,
Visa,
NETeller,
InstaCash,
IDC*
(internet
debit
card),
e-Checks,
Personal
Cheques.
