Complete Poker Room Review

Summary (6.83)

PokerRoom.com is one of the larger sites on the OnGame Network sharing its player with other poker rooms such as Chan Poker, Hollywood Poker, Bwin, Betsson, Euro Poker and does of other sites. Most Mac Poker players prefer PokerRoom.com as it was the first poker room to ever offer a no download version of their software. The Ongame Network continues to do very well despite no longer accepting American players. During June 2007 up to 7,000 real money ring game players could be found playing simultaneously. This put them in 4th behind only Poker Stars, Party Poker and Full Tilt.

Software and graphics (7)

Poker Room's software is reliable with nice graphics. There is a "no download version" available to support Linux and Macintosh users. The lobby displays all key table data such as view flop percentage, hands per hour, and average pot size; however, players must highlight the table name to see this information. All standard features are included, i.e. note taking, multi table play (up to 4 tables), pre-select buttons, etc. Bonus features include a lobby chat room, and an ability to color code players.

Ring game traffic (9)

Poker Room ring game traffic exceed 7,000 (real money) players during peak hours.

Tournament traffic (8)

Poker Room tournament traffic reaches 15,000 (real money) players during peak hours.

Game variety (7)

Poker Room offers all of the standard Holdem, Omaha, and 7 Card Stud games. In addition they offer 5 Card Draw in both fixed and pot limit. The majority of play focuses on low limit but there are plenty of games available at higher stakes.

Rake (5)

The rake is the industry standard 5% with a $3 maximum.

Soft competition (6)

While there is plenty of soft competition at PokerRoom.com, play does lean a bit on tighter side. This is likely a result of the site having been around for years, and many of their loyal players, who have been there since the early days, have had lots of time to improve their games. In mid stake games, full tables, the average view flop percentage is generally 35-40%.

Sign up bonus (5)

There are several Poker Room bonus offers to choose from. The 20% bonus that clears at 7x is the best value for low limit players.

Loyalty bonus (5)

Poker Room awards PokerPoints for each raked hand played. These points are redeemable for cash, or "high value" poker tournaments freerolls.

Promotions (8)

Poker Room has lots of promotions including a $50 Tell a Friend Bonus, PokerPoint Freerolls, Guaranteed Poker Tournaments, Royal Flush Bonus (worth up to $5,000 in ring games) and qualifiers to EPT events.

Support (6)

Support is available through phone and email. Email support tends to be slow often taking a full 24 hours for response.

Financial security (10)

Top Score, one of the industry leaders with almost 5 years operating history and no complaints.

Deposit & withdrawal options (6)

Deposit: Visa/MasterCard, Instacash, Firepay, NETeller and ePassporte.
Withdrawal: Withdrawals are limited to the method which was used to deposit and any subsequent withdrawals can be made via check or Neteller. (Can only cash out to Neteller if you have at one point deposited with Neteller)
